I remember watching The Great British Sewing Bee and being in awe with all the amazing creations and thinking wow I would love to be able to do something like that but where would I begin?
As soon as I saw the Learn to Sew subscription box by Little Miss Sew 'n' Sew I knew it was meant to be. The day came and my box arrived. It was wonderfully presented wrapped in blue tissue paper. Inside were a handy tape measure, fabric, instructions and the paper pattern.
Although the instructions were clear there was a handy online tutorial that comes with the subscription on this months project. I watched the video and found it to be knowledgable and then it was my turn! In about an hour I managed to create my pillow case which is now on my rocking chair where it sits proudly. I found the task a brilliant starter to sewing. Although my pillow case is not perfect within time I know I pick up the skills and finish with finesse and the best part I can keep the pattern to make another one.
This month box I learned how to stitch a straight line, what a seam allowance is, what it means by fold within a paper pattern and a double hem. I am excited for next months box already and eager to get going. This subscription box has definitely opened the doors to sewing for me.
