The Fat Quarter Club - January Box by Sam (@sammyscrunchies4)

Hey..
It's Sam from @SammyScrunchies4 back for another months "sew" from Little Miss Sew n sew guilty pleasure fat quarter subscription box!!
Or as I like to to call it..
My pretty perfect pressie!!
If you like to sew small projects... then this is the subscription box for you!!
Soooo January's box arrived and we are sewing "A cross Body Bag" whoo hoo!!!
So what's included..
3 stunning Fat quarters from Strawberry Tea Collection from Dashwood Studio (in love with the chickens!!!!)
All the extras, bag strapping, magnetic clip, bag adjuster, D rings and interfacing.
A pattern and instruction sheet from @sewcosypatterns
A sweetie!
All wrapped up in tissue!!
Literally just like a gift!!
Honestly tell your friends, family and partner that this is definitely what you'd like for your birthday.. either as a one off box or as a subscription! It's just sooooo pretty!!!
After I calmed down my excitement and waited for my hubby to watch the football (90 minutes of uninterrupted sewing time coming my way)
Off I go!!
If you read my blog regularly then you know that I cut out my pattern and grab a cereal box and glue stick to mount the pattern! It's more durable and I like the harder surface to draw around.
You need to choose your fabric and think.. direction and pattern placement!!! You don't want your houses upside down or your chickens with out heads.. awkward!!
Now.. if you want to cheat (like me) grab your phone and pop on to Facebook to the LMS&S page for the Fat Quarter subscription box.. there you will find a step by step video instructions by Nikola.. unbelievably helpful!!
So I did abandoned the paper instructions (naughty) and joined in for a sew along!
It's very straightforward if you sew each section as per instructions or video. It's slightly more time consuming than last month box yet that's the great variety of it!! You can sew at your own pace and when it suits.
I used two Fat Quarters from the box and coordinated the colours to make a matching set of bags.. this will mean using your own fabric for lining the bags and additional haberdashery. Personally I just couldn’t bear to have this absolutely gorgeous fabric inside my bag so they are lined with a plain fabric from my stash.
That's the great thing with these boxes.. my sewing confidence has improved and I now spend time planning my fabric and what I'd like to see out of the finish product... this way I feel I make the most out of my 3 FQ's that are included.
On my third attempt with the chicken fabric.. I made the pattern shorter.. I'm only mini so the shorter and squarer bag will suit me better.. I added a coordinating strap and popper and felt confident enough to include pockets.
These boxes are so amazing for your sewing ability and the patterns can be adapted as long as you keep the measurements in ratio.
Honestly I cannot say enough about this smashing subscription box
They really brighten up your day!!
Until next time!
