Learn to Sew - Month six has arrived and looking back at all I have achieved with these boxes is amazing. This months project was to create a bag and the new skills within this box was to sew in handles and to apply an appliqué. This is a pattern I will re-use time and time again as it was so easy to do and also what a lovely present for someone especially with Christmas coming up. I think it be an ideal gift as next time I will make it personal for my person I be gifting to. The fabric theme that Nikola chose was lovely. The videos were super easy to follow, I tend to sit down with a cup of tea and watch the video all the way through to get a good understanding, the videos aren’t too long either so you can sit back with a cuppa and watch how Nikola does it. I then go to my machine and get stuck in and of course if I get stuck or forgetful, I simply skip forward the video or glance at the written instructions that comes with the box. For this months tool kit I received a stitch ripper which is a handy tool to cut or unpick threads and also to create a button hole.
I thoroughly enjoyed making the bag, for the appliqué we used bondaweb to apply the design which was a good technique to learn for future projects and also, the understanding behind how it works which Nikola explained and I found that very interesting to learn. Nikola's videos were really engaging and thorough and these projects may seem like they are going to take hours at first but really they don’t take much time at all because of the thorough videos and a good teacher. I very much enjoyed doing the appliqué as you see on my bag I ensured I had my owl in the centre of the star on my appliqué which I felt to me have a great effect on my bag. I again highly recommend these boxes it’s a great way to start off your sewing hobby.
